Accelerating Innovation and Economic Development - Mississippi

Is your community up to speed on broadband Internet? The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce invites you to join us in Jackson, Mississippi for an interactive regional broadband workshop. We will feature successful community broadband projects from across the Gulf Region and explore ways to continue building local broadband adoption and capacity. Come learn how innovative communities are leveraging broadband Internet to drive economic growth, prepare citizens for information-age jobs, integrate digital learning into classrooms and provide cutting-edge healthcare services. The workshop will bring together local and state leaders, federal officials, industry representatives, community advocates and others working to close the digital divide in Mississippi and surrounding states. Sessions will feature best practices and lessons learned from a range of successful network infrastructure projects and digital inclusion programs across the region, including projects funded by NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and State Broadband Initiative (SBI) Program. NTIA presents this event in cooperation with Connect Mississippi and the Mississippi Economic Development Council. It will take place in advance of the Mississippi Economic Development Council (MEDC.ms) winter conference, which begins on the afternoon of February 4, 2015 in the same venue. This is the third in a series of community broadband workshops being hosted by the NTIA.
