Project Title:
The Gun Lake Tribe Tribal Broadband Connectivity Project
Funding Program:
Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program
Project Purpose/Type:
The project will have a substantial impact in the project area by connecting 17 households that currently lack access to qualifying broadband service (i.e., those not currently receiving Internet service with speeds of 25/3 Mbps or greater). The project is designing the proposed network to connect all of these locations with access to a first-in-class gigabit network offering market-leading speeds of up to 1000 Mbps/500 Mbps with very low latency, transforming the broadband offerings available in the community.
State(s):
-
$499,999.74Funding Amount
- 4.1 mile mixed buried/aerial build using existing poles when/where possible.
- Speeds up to 1 Gbps symmetrical.
- Connecting 17 homes in the Settlement area.
By the end of the project, 17 households located on Gun Lake Tribal trust land will have access to quality broadband internet. In addition to a 100% increase in available internet service, Tribal citizens living at the settlement will have better opportunities to participate in virtual Tribal events, as well as more opportunities for remote work and learning. As more houses become available on the settlement and more Tribal citizens move in, they will have readily available access to high quality internet service.
The project intends to benefit Tribal residents, first responders, educators, students, adult learners, Tribal elders, employers, employees, and job seekers.
