Project Purpose/Type:
The Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project outlines pre-deployment activities to prepare for full deployment. The project proposes to design and construct an on-reservation Technology Center Pod to provide space for oversight and administration of the Open Access Network (OAN), as part of a larger Broadband Initiative to collaborate with other telecommunications companies in the area to deliver high speed internet services to tribal residents and tribal facilities that currently do not have access to basic internet services.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to broadband services among Tribal members, as part of a larger Broadband initiative:
- Conduct site work to prepare for the deployment of a prefabricated communication hut (Technology Center Modular Pod).
- Purchase and deploy a prefabricated communication hut (Technology Center Modular Pod).
This project will:
- Construct a Technology Center Pod to consolidate all critical tribal data services into one secure location, help prevent connection problems, provide rack space to accommodate customers of the Tribe’s open access fiber network, and provide rack space to accommodate the Tribe’s residential fiber to the electronics.
- Create up to 4 construction related jobs and 2 IT related jobs.
The project is intended to benefit the 57 identified Native American households within the Nisqually Tribal boundaries.
