Project Purpose/Type:
The Broadband Use and Adoption project will assist the Passamaquoddy Tribe in creating and implementing digital inclusion, distance learning, and telehealth and telework programs for the benefit of their Tribal members. The Tribe also submitted an application for a Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project but OICG determined that the activities proposed for funding were not allowable and did not meet TBCP funding priorities.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to, and use of, broadband services among Tribal members:
- Contracting of Acadia Capital Management to design and implement a digital inclusion program meant to educate and empower Tribal members in their use of broadband devices and services.
- Provide broadband-enabled devices and broadband education to students to increase their knowledge and comfort with broadband and distance learning tools.
- Facilitate digital literacy events focused on helping adult Tribal members navigate telework and develop marketable skills.
- Provide broadband devices for use in telehealth appointments by high- risk patients.
This project will improve access to and knowledge of telehealth, remote learning, workforce development, and telework tools.
The project intends to benefit 320 Tribal households.
