Project Purpose/Type:
The Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project proposes to deploy a 1.8-mile fiber connection to connect unserved Tribal government buildings and 46 Tribal homes, and purchase Customer Premises Equipment as part of a 2.5 GHz deployment. Additionally, a service cabinet will be purchased and erected which will provide a means to connect the 1.8-mile project to Phase II, which will prepare the Tribe to improve access to broadband services for all Tribal members with additional funding.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to broadband services among Tribal members:
- Deploy a 1.8-mile connection from the Reservation’s south border to the new community area, including connecting unserved Tribal government buildings.
- Purchase and install communication cabinet at south end of reservation.
- Purchase 50 Customer Premises Equipment units for existing homes.
This project will:
- Expand broadband fiber within the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe Reservation by connecting 10 Tribal Government buildings and 46 Tribal homes currently without service.
- Install 50 Customer Premises Equipment units as part of a 2.5 GHz deployment.
- Install a service cabinet to prepare to bring broadband service to the base of the site to further expansion efforts.
- Create 1-2 FTE construction-related jobs.
This project intends to benefit 46 Tribal homes, 10 Tribal government services, employees, and employers.
