Purpose/Type This Planning, Engineering, Feasibility, and Sustainability project will fund a study to develop a comprehensive broadband infrastructure deployment plan encompassing Tribal Lands in rural Amador County, California. The Tribe intends to focus its plan on needs and gaps associated with its newly acquired 2.5 GHz license from the FCC. Future broadband infrastructure development will focus on connecting a Tribal community center, wellness center, and Tribal housing development center.

Project activities in support of the planning study include:
- Conduct analysis of current broadband infrastructure and market on Tribal lands.
- Identify and refine key goals and objectives.
- Engage key stakeholders and develop partnerships for a future broadband infrastructure project.
- Explore opportunities for increased market competition to ensure broadband service affordability.
- Develop deployment strategies for future infrastructure in support of tribal businesses and economic activities.
- Develop strategies to improve telework opportunities.
- Outline initial financial objectives for a future broadband infrastructure project.
Utilizing the feasibility analysis, the Tribe will engage with qualified firms to develop a comprehensive broadband infrastructure deployment plan that will implement a broadband network meeting the key goals and objectives of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians.
The applicant’s proposed service area encompasses over 220 acres of underdeveloped land, serving approximately 775 Tribal members. Tribal government offices reside on land within the city of Plymouth while commercial enterprises and residential housing are developing in the greater Armador County area.
