The Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project proposes to install fiber directly connecting 79 unserved Native American households, 15 Tribal offices, 2 Tribal businesses, and 3 community anchor institutions with qualifying broadband service with up to 1 Gbps symmetrical speeds.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to, and use of, broadband services among Tribal members:
- Install 15 miles of buried fiber connecting 79 households, 15 Tribal offices, 2 Tribal businesses, and 3 community anchor institutions to high-speed broadband.
- Construct a network operations center within the Picuris Administration building that will include server racks, hardware, software, telecommunications, and infrastructure.
- Entire infrastructure including equipment will be engineered, furnished, installed, and tested.
- Design and install an Optical Line Terminal with uninterruptable backup battery power supply.
This project will:
- Connect 79 unserved Native American households, 15 Tribal offices, 2 Tribal businesses, and 3 community anchor institutions with high-speed, reliable, and affordable Internet access.
- Converge data, voice, and video onto a single fiber.
- Centralize the network operations center, security management, and alarm response.
- Deploy an integrated solution with 365/24/7 monitoring.
- Create administrative and management oversight functions including customer service.
- Create 5 construction-related jobs to support the project.
- Improve the overall quality of life, including health, of Tribal residents.
The project intends to benefit Tribal members, health care providers and patients, students and educators, employers and employees, and entrepreneurs.
