The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Infrastructure Program is a $288 million broadband deployment program directed to facilitate partnerships between a State, or one or more political subdivisions of a State, and a provider of fixed broadband service to support broadband infrastructure deployment to areas lacking broadband.
To ensure that NTIA targets federal funds appropriately to areas lacking qualifying broadband service, and in accordance with Section VIII.B of the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), NTIA posted an announcement of eligible applications received from covered partnerships that were undergoing NTIA review for funding, along with a description of the proposed service areas and a list of corresponding census blocks. NTIA invited broadband service providers to submit information about the broadband services they offer in any of the proposed service areas. NTIA considered the voluntarily submitted information by existing broadband service providers as a factor in its evaluation of proposals.
The Excel spreadsheets below titled “Public Notice of Broadband Infrastructure Program Applicant Proposed Service Areas (XLS) - Announced 10/04/2021 and Open for Comment Through 10/19/21” and “Public Notice of Broadband Infrastructure Program Applicant Proposed Service Areas (XLS) - Announced 12/06/2021 and Open for Public Comment Through 12/21/2021” contain a complete list of census blocks as provided by applicants, as well as applicant names, their state or territory, and their proposed service areas.
As required in Section VIII.B of the NOFO, NTIA has made publicly available the information provided by broadband service providers in response to the Announcement of Proposed Service Areas. The final Excel spreadsheet below – Responses Received to the Public Notice of Broadband Infrastructure Program Proposed Service Areas (XLS) – contains the name of the companies that provided information on their broadband service offerings, the companies’ summaries describing the information they submitted to NTIA, and the census blocks to which the service providers responded. The information included in the spreadsheet is unaltered from the original service provider submission, though the spreadsheet excludes submitted information that service providers designated as proprietary and confidential, consistent with applicable federal law and as specified in the Broadband Infrastructure Program NOFO.
