Project Purpose/Type:
The Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project proposes to install fiber directly connecting 76 unserved Native American households to qualifying broadband service with up to 1 Gbps symmetrical speeds.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to, and use of, broadband services among Tribal members:
- Comply with all natural and cultural resources assessment and permitting requirements.
- Install 1.5 miles of fiber in 2-inch underground conduit to connect 76 unserved Native American households to the SkagitNet Internet service.
- Implement a network management system including buildout, testing, and system acceptance.
- Install FTTH to 76 households including outdoor cabinets, all broadband fiber, switches, and related equipment.
This project will:
- Bring reliable, affordable, and scalable broadband to 76 unserved Native American households that include 50 single family homes and 26 multi-family units with speeds of up to 1 Gigabit symmetrical service.
- Boost economic development, open-up remote working opportunities, and entrepreneurship options resulting in increased salaries/income.
- Provide access to learning (continuing education) opportunities and workforce training.
- Connect educators with professional development opportunities.
- Provide access to online healthcare services and resources.
- Create up to 10 temporary construction jobs.
- Make e-banking and bill payment a possibility.
The project intends to benefit Tribal residents, educators, students, employers and employees, entrepreneurs, health care providers, patients, and users of social services.
