Project Purpose/Type:
The Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project proposes to install fiber directly connecting 130 unserved Tribal households, 2 unserved Tribal businesses, and 3 unserved Tribal community anchor institutions with 25/3 Mbps qualifying broadband service.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to, and use of, broadband services among Tribal members:
- Construct a new 118 mile fiber optic network.
- Install approximately 111 miles of aerial fiber and 7 miles of underground fiber.
- Create 3 to 5 broadband development-related, fiber construction jobs and 1 permanent Tribal job.
This project will:
- Provide Tribal members, businesses, and anchor institutions with affordable, reliable, and high-speed Internet access via a new broadband fiber optic network.
- Increase remote educational opportunities.
- Bolster economic development for Tribal businesses and individuals.
- Connect community and government buildings such as the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Museum, the Maushop Farm (including the First Light Shellfish Farm), and the Old Indian Meetinghouse Church.
- Connect Communities. Improve the provision of services.
The project intends to benefit Tribal residents, businesses, and anchor institutions providing social services.
