Project Purpose/Type:
The Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project proposes to install fiber to directly connect 1167 unserved Native American households and anchor institutions with a minimum of 25/3 Mbps service.

The project proposes the following activities designed to improve access to, and use of, broadband services among Tribal members:
- Deploy an 18 mile middle- and last-mile fiber network to directly connect 218 unserved Native American households to qualifying service of 25/3 Mbps or greater and to connect 949 Native American households, businesses, and anchor institutions currently served by microwave and leased fiber backhaul to a 10G fiber backbone.
- Construct a 2,000 square foot network operations center to house network infrastructure and serve as a base for network monitoring and maintenance.
- Provide workforce development training for 2-4 Tribal members, consisting of 6 months of on-the-job instruction in ISP network management, operations, and maintenance.
- Purchase and install 218 units of customer premises equipment.
- Purchase vehicles, tools, and work equipment for the construction and maintenance of the proposed broadband network.
This project will expand access to remote work, distance learning, and telehealth services, promote economic development, create employment opportunities for Tribal members, and enhance Tribal sovereignty.
The project intends to benefit all unserved Pueblo of Acoma households.
