As the importance of broadband connectivity continues to grow for economic development, state and local or regional planning commissions, such as the Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission, are including broadband in their planning.  The federal government provides a number of important data sources that can inform those plans.

National data like NTIA’s comprehensive Internet Use Survey informs policy and programs about broadband adoption. Separately, household data on computer and Internet use from the American Community Survey is available at the Census Bureau’s American FactFinder for all 3,142 counties in America as well as states, places, Tribal lands, zip codes, and Census tracts.
