Federal Interagency Broadband Permitting Summit Hosted by BLM and NTIA

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold a multi-agency summit to introduce State government broadband leaders, industry partners, broadband stakeholders, and other attendees to the permitting and environmental review requirements of various federal land and resource management agencies. Participating agencies will include BLM, the US Forest Service, the Federal Highway Administration, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Representatives from the the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service are also invited. The attached preliminary draft agenda reflects current participation commitments.

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements specific to NTIA’s Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) program and other Internet for All grants will be the focus of the Summit’s second day.

The event will be held in person at the BLM National Training Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24. Virtual attendance is not offered but a recording of the event will be available from BLM and NTIA.
