Webinar Highlights Research Showing the Economic Benefits of Broadband

 

The September 19 BroadbandUSA webinar, “Measuring the Economic Impact of Broadband” showcased current research on the economic impact of broadband. Alison Grant, Dr.  Roberto Gallardo from Purdue University and Professor Brian Whitacre from Oklahoma State University discussed a number of studies including their own that show positive impacts of broadband connectivity at the local, state and national level, particularly in rural and agricultural communities.

NTIA Partners with Local Leaders to Roll-out Broadband Workshops in Six States

 

NTIA is working with local leaders to offer rural broadband workshops across the country.  Workshops are planned in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Wyoming, Mississippi, and New Mexico. The programs are designed for local broadband stakeholders to learn about digital applications, broadband solutions, and federal and state grant and loan programs. The workshops will focus on local resources, tools, and action plans.

May 2019 Webinar: Infrastructure Week: Leveraging Public Assets to Accelerate Broadband Deployment

State and local governments are developing new policies that provide access to rights-of-way and leverage assets in order to incentivize broadband deployment. While it is in the public’s interest to speed up access to broadband, it is a balancing act. Policymakers need to consider cost, aesthetics, digital equity, and environmental mandates.
