Honoring African American History Month & Celebrating the Office of Minority Broadband Initiatives

February is African American History Month, an opportunity to honor the contributions of the Black community across all aspects of society. To kick off the month, we’re spotlighting an office within NTIA that is working to expand broadband access, deployment, and digital equity in vulnerable communities—the Office of Minority Broadband Initiatives (OMBI).

Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Broadband Programs: Public Virtual Listening Session #3

This listening session will focus on the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. NTIA will provide a deep dive into the BEAD program and its parameters under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). NTIA will also provide an opportunity for attendees to provide live feedback on the following policy questions:  

National Broadband Availability Map Reaches 40 State, U.S. Territory Participants

Over the last few months, NTIA’s National Broadband Availability Map (NBAM) has added Nevada, Louisiana, American Samoa, and Puerto Rico to its growing roster of participants. To date, the NBAM includes 38 states, two U.S. territories, and five federal agencies: US Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
